
Clark Reder Engineering helped with the design of a replacement truss structure that serves as a dramatic backdrop for Cirque du Soleil ’ s Mystere shows in Las Vegas, NV. The Mystere Sky truss structure, which measures approximately 70ft wide x 46.5ft tall, was originally engineered in 2010 and was given a 10 - year lifespan. During performances, the Mystere Sky structure rotates 90 - degrees from its vertical, stored position to a horizontal, ceiling orientation via the mechanical arm su pports located on each end . Clark Reder Engineering was tasked with identifying potential hot spots throughout the structure and offering solutions t hat both maintained the overall appearance and functionality & reinforced the framing or connections to cre ate a stronger structure. Clark Reder Engineering worked closely with Cirque du Soleil ’ s creative team as well as Xtreme Structures, who fabricated the Mystere Sky truss structure.
